The Bambu Lab P1S is an enclosed 256 mm CoreXY printer with a carbon air filter. It was the enclosed step up from the open-frame P1P and, since October 2025, has sat beside the newer P2S in the range. This page covers the maker's specifications, UK prices and who the printer is likely to suit.

What was announced and when

Wikipedia's Bambu Lab article lists the P1S release date as 13 July 2023. Bambu Lab's own P2S FAQ answers the question of whether the P1S will stop being sold with "There are no plans for that at the moment", which is the maker's position as read on 2026-10-10. The newer printer has its own first look.

What is new versus the P1P

The store comparison table shows the P1S adds an enclosed plastic and glass shell, an activated carbon filter, ABS and ASA in the ideal-filament list (the P1P lists them as capable), and closed-loop control on the chamber and auxiliary fans where the P1P lists them as optional. The P1S also weighs more, at 12.95 kg against 9.65 kg net.

P1S compared with the A1 and the P2S

Against the open-frame A1, the headline difference is the enclosure and the wider filament list. Against the P2S, the P2S spec sheet lists a 110 C bed, 600 mm/s tool head speed, a hardened steel nozzle and gear, and a 1080p camera. Those are covered in P1S vs P2S and A1 vs P1S.

Who it suits (opinion from the specs)

This section is opinion based on the published specifications, not on use of the printer.

  • Buyers who want to print ABS or ASA. An enclosure is what makes those materials practical, as explained in enclosed vs open-frame 3D printers and PLA vs PETG vs ABS vs TPU. Fumes and heat guidance should follow the maker's documentation.
  • People who want a lower price than the P2S. The UK listing is £120 under the P2S printer-only price.
  • Anyone who needs a hardened nozzle out of the box. The P1S lists a stainless steel nozzle, so abrasive filaments mean a separate nozzle purchase.

Running costs matter as much as the sticker price. The print cost calculator and the guide to 3D printer running costs in the UK cover electricity and filament.

What to test when a unit is available

  • Print time and quality on ABS or ASA with the door closed.
  • How effective the carbon filter is in practice, and how often it needs replacing.
  • Noise at normal speeds in a living space.
  • Whether the 720p camera is adequate for remote monitoring.
  • Measured power draw for the running-cost calculator.
